Property Law

Property law is the branch of civil law that governs persons’ control over things and concerns rights in rem enforceable against everyone. The right of ownership, the limited rights in rem of easement and pledge, and possession and the land register are the fundamental institutions of this branch.

In respect of real estate, property law forms the core of real estate law as regards the acquisition and loss of ownership, relations between co-owners, the restriction of ownership on grounds of neighbourhood and the public interest, rights established over real estate in favour of others, and the actions brought to protect these rights.
