Negotiable Instruments Law

Negotiable instruments law encompasses the rights and obligations arising from bills of exchange such as cheques, promissory notes and drafts, and from other negotiable instruments. The issuance and formal requirements of bills of exchange, the chain of endorsements, security notes, disputes over dishonoured cheques and cancellation actions in the event of the loss of instruments are the main subjects of this field.

The collection of commercial receivables, particularly invoice and current account receivables, enforcement proceedings based on bills of exchange and objections thereto, actions for negative declaration and restitution, actions for the annulment of objections, claims for commercial interest, and requests for interim attachment to secure receivables also fall within this field.
